About Rubie

Hi, I'm Rubie - the founder of Lioness and Cubs.

I'm a Level 3 Pre and Post Natal qualified trainer with over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry and I've had the pleasure of working with hundreds of women throughout their fitness journeys. Being a mother myself, I know first hand the physical and emotional changes that come with pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and motherhood beyond.

Lioness and Cubs was built on one powerful belief: mums are incredibly strong - sometimes they just need reminding.

My classes focus on creating solid foundations. During pregnancy, we work safely and intentionally to keep your body strong whilst it adapts to your growing baby bump. Post-partum, we rebuild with care, restoring core strength, improving mobility, and developing functional strength that supports you in everyday life.

This isn’t about pressure or unrealistic expectations. It’s about reconnecting with your body, building resilience, and recognising your capability.

I want every mum who steps into my class to feel powerful, to move with confidence, to trust her body, and to leave feeling stronger than when she arrived.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which class is right for me?

It depends on where you are in your journey. The Growing Lioness is for you if you're currently pregnant. Restore the Lioness is designed for the early postnatal period — from 6 weeks up to 12 months after birth. Mums & Cubs is for mums whose little ones are aged 1–3 years old and who want to continue building strength while bringing their toddler along. Not sure? Just get in touch and Rubie will help you find the best fit.

Is my first class really free?

Yes — your very first class is completely free, no strings attached. Just use the code WELCOME when booking. It's a chance to try the session, meet Rubie, and see if it feels right for you before committing to anything. After that, classes are £12 each (£10 for Mums & Cubs), or you can save with a block booking of four classes.

When can I start?

You're welcome to join The Growing Lioness at any stage of pregnancy. For Restore the Lioness, we recommend waiting until at least 6 weeks postpartum and getting clearance from your GP or midwife first. Mums & Cubs is open to mums with toddlers aged 1–3 years.

Are babies and toddlers welcome?

Yes! Babies are welcome in Restore the Lioness — they can lie on a mat beside you or sit in a bouncer while you exercise. Mums & Cubs is specifically designed for mums with toddlers aged 1–3, so little ones can stay close by, play alongside you, or even join in parts of the workout. The environment is relaxed and understanding — no pressure if they need attention mid-session.

What if I've never exercised before?

All fitness levels are welcome. Classes are designed to be adapted to you — whether you're a seasoned gym-goer or this is your very first fitness class, you'll feel right at home. Rubie has over 10 years of experience working with women at every fitness level.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just bring a yoga mat, a water bottle, and comfortable clothes you can move in. If you don't have a mat yet, just let Rubie know and she'll sort you out.

Is the venue accessible? Is there parking?

Yes — the venue at 2nd Horsham Scout Group is wheelchair and pram accessible, with excellent toilet facilities and heated floors. There's a free on-site car park, plus unrestricted street parking nearby, so getting there with a pram or baby kit is straightforward.

Restore the Lioness gently guides you back into movement after birth in a way that respects your body's healing process.

With a strong focus on education and recovery, each session includes:

  • Core reconnection
  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation
  • Gentle strength rebuilding
  • Safe return to exercise guidance

You'll rebuild strength from the inside out, regain confidence in your body, and move in a way that feels supportive.

Babies are welcome in this calm and understanding environment.

Suitable from 6 weeks postpartum (with medical clearance) – 12 months postpartum.

There is no rush. Strength returns when the foundations are respected.

Mums & Cubs is a welcoming fitness class designed for mums with toddlers who want to prioritise their health while still spending quality time with their children. This class blends functional strength training, mobility, and postnatal-safe exercises to help you continue rebuilding your body after birth.

The sessions focus on helping you:

  • Rebuild full-body strength
  • Improve core stability and pelvic floor function
  • Increase energy and mobility for everyday life with a toddler
  • Move safely and confidently after the postnatal period

Your toddler can stay close by, play alongside you, or even join in parts of the workout. The environment is relaxed, understanding, and designed with mums in mind — no pressure if little ones need attention.

Suitable for children aged 1–3 years old.

Expect:
